Bar (horizontal) is best for rankings and comparisons of categorical data. Column (vertical) is best for time series and ordered categories.

Stacked Bar / Stacked Column​

Use stacked variants to show part-of-whole composition over time or across categories.

The 100% stack style normalises all bars to 100% for easier proportion comparison.

Conditional formatting​

Highlight rules colour individual bars based on their value.
