Chart Not Updating

A tile or chart shows stale data โ€” why Discover doesn't auto-run, how the global date and frame drive tiles, and when results come from cache

Note

Your chart or Mosaic tile is showing numbers that look out of date and won't reflect the change you just made.

Symptoms

  • A Discover chart doesn't change after you add a field, edit a filter, or change the grain.
  • A Mosaic tile looks stale even though the underlying data has moved.
  • A Cached badge appears in the Discover action bar.
  • Comparison columns vanish from a tile and a "comparison skipped" hint appears.

Causes & fixes

SymptomCauseFix
Discover chart doesn't change after an editDiscover does not auto-run on every click โ€” you stay in control of when the warehouse is queriedClick Run. The row count and duration update in the action bar.
Cached badge shown, numbers look oldResults came from cacheRe-run the query; for a Mosaic, use โ‹ฏ โ†’ Rerun all tiles (or press R) to force a fresh run of every tile.
A Mosaic tile didn't move with the rest of the pageTiles are live but only re-run on open, on Rerun all tiles, or when the global date/frame/comparison/filters changeChange the global date or frame, or run Rerun all tiles, to push every tile to re-query.
The global date "doesn't apply" to one tileThe tile has no detectable date dimension, or it has a pinned date override that ignores the global date by designConfirm the tile's Reveal has a date dimension; remove the per-tile date override if you want it to follow the page.
Comparison silently turned off, "comparison skipped" hintThe comparison query failed (e.g. no resolvable date range) and Celiq fell back to the simple query so the tile still rendersSet an explicit global date range, then re-run.
A pinned Prism tile looks out of sync with DiscoverThe Prism carries its own governed definition; session-only grain/comparison overrides don't persistRe-open the Prism in Discover and re-save to make a view stick.

Still stuck?

If the tile still won't refresh after a rerun, the query itself may be failing โ€” check the warehouse connection and confirm the tile has a valid domain and Reveal. See Refresh Issues for cache, timeout, and live-vs-snapshot behaviour. If you see a permission error instead of stale data, see Permission Denied.
