Tip
Goal: Configure the Orion Weekly Brief โ€” what it summarizes, its cadence, and how it's delivered.
Time: ~5 minutes
You'll need: A workspace with an AI API key, plus KPI snapshots, goals, or actions to summarize
Role: Weaver or Luminary (everyone can read briefs; only these roles generate and configure them)

The Weekly Brief turns your KPI snapshots, active goals, open actions, and optional live warehouse queries into a short, readable brief that Orion writes for each recipient โ€” personalized to their role. It runs every Monday and is saved as history. By the end you'll have generated a brief and, optionally, wired live warehouse data into it.

Before you start

  • Confirm the workspace has an AI API key configured โ€” Orion uses it to write the brief. See Weekly Brief.
  • Have something to summarize: KPI snapshots, active goals, and open actions all feed the brief.
  • Have the Weaver or Luminary role โ€” + Generate Brief and the settings gear only appear for these roles.
  • This is a weekly cadence keyed to the Monday ISO week start, not a daily digest.

Steps

1

Open the Weekly Brief page

Click Weekly Brief in the main navigation (path /brief). The sidebar shows Brief History โ€” every brief generated for you, newest first, with unread briefs marked by a dot. The main panel renders the selected brief.

2

Read a brief

Click any card in the sidebar. The main panel shows the headline, a green Highlights box, the titled sections, and an amber Watch box. Opening an unread brief marks it as read; the footer shows when it was generated and read.

3

Generate the current week's brief

As a Weaver or Luminary, click + Generate Brief at the top of the sidebar. Orion writes a brief for the current week using your role and the latest data, then selects it. Re-running in the same week regenerates and overwrites that week's brief rather than creating a duplicate.

4

Add live warehouse data (optional)

Click the gear (โš™) in the sidebar to open Brief Settings. Keep Include warehouse data checked, then add up to 10 labeled SQL queries โ€” each needs a human-readable label (e.g. "Weekly Revenue") and a SQL statement. Click Save. Future briefs run these queries and feed the results to Orion. Keep the set small and high-signal.

5

Let the weekly schedule do the rest

Once data is in place, Orion generates briefs automatically every Monday and emails them to opted-in recipients. You don't need to press Generate each week โ€” that button is for refreshing the current week on demand.

Result

You have a generated brief in the history sidebar and, if you configured them, live warehouse numbers folded into each week's content. From then on the Monday cron handles generation and email delivery to opted-in recipients โ€” on-demand briefs are in-app only and are not emailed. Note that live warehouse results are gated on each recipient's true role: restricted recipients receive a brief built from KPI snapshots, goals, and actions instead.

Next steps
